The Abandoned Vessel

As I walked along the quiet shoreline, the golden sand warm beneath my feet, I searched for something that spoke to me. The water was impossibly calm, mirroring the sky in soft, shifting hues.

Then, it arrived—a small red boat with yellow trim, its paint worn and chipped from years of salt and sun. It glided onto the shore, its journey momentarily paused. Inside, blue wooden planks lined its interior, smooth from use. A fishing net lay tangled in the corner, alongside a few blue bags, their contents unknown.

The men who had brought it in moved with practiced efficiency. They took what they needed, lifted the motor from the stern, and walked away without a word. The boat, stripped of purpose for the moment, remained behind, resting in the sand.

Something about the way it sat there—weathered yet resilient, waiting yet timeless—held my gaze. The colors, the textures, the story etched into its worn wood. I lifted my camera, framed the shot, and pressed the shutter.

A single moment, captured. A boat left behind, still whispering of the sea.
