Crossing Stillness

On a quiet, fog-laced morning by the river, the world felt suspended between seasons. The trees, bare and solemn, stood like ancient sentinels stripped of their autumn gold. Their branches, now skeletal, reached toward one another from opposite banks, some leaning so far they nearly brushed in the center—forming a delicate, natural arch over the still water below.

At the heart of the scene, where the river narrowed into a quiet passage, the water found its way toward a larger lake just beyond the fog’s veil. That gentle split—a quiet corridor of flow—became the photograph’s whisper, guiding the eye and the spirit to wonder what lies just past the mist.

There was no wind, no birdsong, only the subtle hush of the morning fog. The soft light scattered through the grayness, casting no shadows, only a calm that felt deeply timeless. In that silence, I stood still behind the lens, knowing the moment would last only as long as the mist held on.
